I have recently decided to write on any topic only after trying it on myself. I will write only if any new idea has successfully worked for me.
In July 2022, I decided that I would do my research on cholesterol and will try to get rid of my high cholesterol in 6 months.
I took a calculated risk after researching and stopped taking my prescription medicines.
My aim was to find food that can generate cholesterol and stop eating them. So instead of acquiring cholesterol and then killing it with prescription medicines, don’t allow cholesterol in the first place.
My research data made it easier than I had expected.
Any food that comes from animals only can produce cholesterol. No plant-based food can generate cholesterol.
These food include:
1: Eggs
2: Dairy products (milk, cheese etc.)
3: Meat
I removed all the above foods from my day-to-day life. I didn’t completely stop eating them, but I removed these from my daily intake. I still order my favorite Egg Benedict when we go to Sunday brunch, and I still order Butter Chicken for occasional dining in the cafes.
I followed this eating habit for 6 months and underwent six monthly sugar and cholesterol blood tests in December.
My doctor saw the test result and could not believe it. He said that for the first time in his 30 years of career, he will stop cholesterol polls for a patient who has been on these pills for the last 15 years. That too, when I was not taking my Cholesterol pills. My doctor appreciated my effort but never expressed any sign of encouragement. And I understand doctors pledge before starting their professional life that they will only follow what they are taught.
Life is simple, but we unnecessarily make it complicated.
PS: Fascinating thing happened when I visited Pharmacy to pick up my blood pressure prescription pills in the evening at 5:15. Pharmacist personally came to hand over my prescription with a worried face. He said, Ranjan, we close at 5:30, and it looks like your doctor has forgotten to write your Cholesterol pills this time. I smiled and said, “No, he has not forgotten. I don’t need those anymore”. He joked, what the hell! You had been working on healthy habits during the festive season. What did you eat on Christmas eve?
PPS: My next challenge is to get rid of my high blood pressure pills. If I succeed, I will write about it and share it in a few months.
